Marney is a small Irish brand that creates hand knitted luxury for little ones. With a simple philosophy of sustainability, craftsmanship and spreading love with each handmade piece, Marney aims to create heirlooms that last for generations.

 

Task:

Create a modern and design led brand to help launch Marney. The brand needed to feel different to its competitors, creating a modern Irish look and avoid the cheesy category tropes.

Approach:

Taking a modern, but Irish approach to the brand, the identity focuses on natural materials and texture, minimal yet bold typography and imagery led layouts.

Scope:

Branding, Art Direction, Packaging, Photography, Web Design.

The brand centres around a word mark which is influenced by the timeless beauty of Irish and Celtic calligraphy, creating a visual representation that is both modern and enchanting. It is accompanied by a suite of smooth and modern iconography to contrast against the logo. The colour palette is neutral and natural reflecting the collection of garments, yet accented with a bright neon green creating a modern and ownable look.

The branding continues across the products in the form of an embroidered label, swing tag and fluro branded ribbon. Each purchase is loving wrapped in tissue, placed in a reusable tote bag and shipped off to various countries around the world.

 

Accompanying the brand identity is a suite of imagery showcasing the product in both natural and studio set ups. Using interesting landscape backdrops and natural & organic props helped reflect the ethos of the brand and the quality of the products.

The digital side of the brand leverages the modern photography and takes a typography led approach for social and web assets. Utilising unusual imagery and design focused visuals helps Marney stand out from the crowd.
